Running, running, running

For some time now, various newspapers have published reports about the increase in the practice of running. One of the most recent cases has been Hoy:

Diario de Navarra has gone further, turning this trend into something much bigger, captained by José Javier Imbuluzqueta. He told us: “We are seeing an increasing interest in the practice of running and a rise in the number of local competitions in Navarra. It was no longer just a trend. Because of that, La Información Group has created an interdepartmental group to study from different perspectives if the phenomenon we were feeling was truly that, and which were the different possibilities we could be facing. We made contact and interviewed followers —trying to get the most clear idea about the needs, hopes, routines, problems…— the different agents that form the world of popular running competitions (runners, but also clubs, sponsors, institutions, organizers, equipment suppliers, doctors, physiotherapists…). We also didn´t forget about those who don´t compete but go running to maintain good health, for aesthetics and because it is cheaper than going to a gym…”

“With all of it we’ve made an x-ray of that partially published in a special report series previous to the launch of DN Running. Finally, seeing that there were a lot of possibilities, we decided to bet on creating DN Running as a new space of reference and meeting for running followers and for those who not only want to get initiated into it, but also into its environment. A bet made on both, the physical and the digital edition, with the creation of new pages, blogs… And a bigger follow-up work of the running competitions and their protagonists”

These are some of its pages:

“All of it —he tells us¬— has led to a relationship with the Navarre Circuit of Running and to promote what will be, the next 28th of June, the first marathon celebrated in Navarra. We have named it the San Fermín Marathon and it´s an event that, we feel will also fill a hole in the Community of Navarra´s sports panorama.
