Roads...

Two newspapers have coincided in focusing on the conditions of their community´s roads. Good analysis to conclude, like Las Provincias does it, with a word that says everything: SOS. The other example is from Diario de Navarra.

The "most Navarre" Champions

The Champion´s League semifinals. If Real Madrid does not win, a soccer player from Navarre will do so. Raúl García (Atleti), Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Javi Martínez (Bayern). At least one will be in the final match in Lisbon. Marca published a few days ago a report in which the mothers of the three soccer players were the protagonists. Reading it while you smile, that’s good journalism.

The day after, Diario de Navarra also focused on this fact. In this case, they talk about the three players two legends from Osasuna: Enrique Martín and Cuco Ciganda:

Our goodbye to Gabo

It´s been a few days since Gabriel García Márquez passed away. We have seen a lot of pages about him. We didn´t want The Good Press to overlook the great writer and journalist. We offer just a few front pages. And, because we loved it, the supplement published by El Heraldo from Barranquilla, the newspaper in which Gabo began his journalistic career.

Made in China

Fifth supplement from our third year Journalism students, produced in the “Newspapers´ Editing” subject from FCOM. Ana Escauriaza, its editor, presents it to us: “When thinking about China a lot of clichés come to our mind: from the Confucius movement to communism, the millions of inhabitants or their impossible language.  Something that seems so distant and far away from our daily routine but that, every day is becoming more and more part of our lives: it´s easy to locate the closest dollar store, we all have a friend who likes Chinese food and we are all probably wearing something that was made in China

“This was the phenomenon that inspired our supplement. And in this way China became a challenge: we wanted to know what the Chinese community is really like; to find an answer to all the questions about their lifestyle; the differences between first and second generations; the economy or politics; the customs or their philosophy of life. Through it all, we wanted to bring that third-floor neighbor, the Chinese man from the dollar store, or the one from  García´s bar closer to Pamplona´s citizens. What they think, how they live, what they do. What their past was like, how their country is. We talk about China in the world and about the Chinese in Pamplona”.

The students who have developed this supplement are Ana Escauriaza Escudero (editor), María Olábarri Candela, Iñaki Aguirre Pérez, Rocío del Prado Montoto, Carmen Camey Marroquín, Esther Rodríguez-Losada Torres, Sofía Brotóns Arnau, Diego Prego Salvador, Anna Vila Pijoan, Carolina Villegas Galaviz, Iñaki Sevillano Aramendia, Nerea Zaballa Ureta and Luis Santaemilia Legarre.

A hundred years of war

The fourth supplement from the third year journalism students of the FCOM faculty is presented by Celia Erice, its editor: “One hundred years ago, the world lived one of the bloodiest conflicts for mankind.  A war of an unthinkable magnitude, that wasn´t expected and that lasted four long years. A war where humans, that possessed great technology advantages, were witnesses to their own moral and human set-back. This supplement is a result of that war, the one that marked a milestone. Because of the centenary of the onset of the First World War, these 34 pages go deep into the 20th century world of war.”

A hundred years of war is an itinerary though the wars, the history, the weapons, the uniforms, the songs, the posters, the movies and the scenery of the different war-related confrontations of the last century. A supplement that brings us closer to the reality, sometimes so distant and misunderstood, of the war and its soldiers. A supplement that makes us feel directly what it means to live through a military conflict. A supplement in which  interviews show the most human face of war and in which, after having read and researched, it has attempted to go beyond and think about how a Third World War could develop. Because the human being is the only animal who stumbles over the same stone twice. Or three times”.

The students that have developed this supplement are Celia Erice (editor), Carmen Alba, Miguel Echavarri, Sara Escalante, Andrea García, María Luisa Guerrero, Sara Huarte, Maialen Mangas, Paula Napal, Irene Pagalday, Laura Rodríguez and Naiara Salas.
