Stories that hook

Our blog followers know how much we bet on stories, which are the newspaper´s soul. We have saved a few for today so we can enjoy them during the week-end. These we read about in the V supplement are hard, inspiring, well-worked. And, in some cases, the protagonists´ images have a powerful impact. 

Three local views

We have seen three outstanding examples of how to carry out good local journalism. The first one, from Diario de Burgos, takes as a starting point an incident which happened in another region and approaches it with its own view-point. In the second example, newspaper Sur goes further and gives a worldwide look to the facts which occurred in its region. In the third one La Voz de Galicia approaches Cataluña´s independence issue by talking to Galician people who live in that region.

Nate Davis´ story

We have read in El Norte de Castilla an interesting, well-timed previous coverage. “Informe Robinson” (Canal +) will dedicate its program on the 25th of December to this great basketball player. He played in Valladolid. The newspaper recovers his story. 

How Asunta´s murder occured

The judge has closed the preliminary investigation from the “Asunta case”. After the reporting restrictions were lifted the investigation´s results have been published. El Correo, not only gives the text´s key points but also narrates facts in a very efficient way.

Looking for my branch

Good topic in Sur: Events usually have consequences. The economic crisis it´s closing a lot of branches and clients are finding themselves without their “lifelong” branch. 

Light aircraft lost in Chile

We show today an outstanding example of a follow-up work. It has been published by one of the big newspapers in Chile, La Tercera. The “informative trickle” as a virtue: the interest in being on the lookout every day until closing the story. 

The more analysis, the better

The more facts we have, the more analysis we need: It´s harder but also essential. A lot of information and a head to organize it are needed, but that´s what the reader expects from a newspaper.
