Conchi has ALS

Outstanding feature in  Heraldo about this disease. There are facts, there´s a good infographic and, above all, the newspaper shares a day with Conchi. There is a lot of affection in these pages.

We´ve also seen these days two excellent ideas about Alzeheimer´s disease. The first one, a feature in Las Provincias; the second one, a great bet on the theme in Ara, with the excellent change in its masthead

Changing the center of attention

What it look like a story from another province, what —due to the seriousness of the incident— was going to have a good treatment in the national pages... changes suddendly when it is revealed that the protagonist is also charged for an attack in your city. This is exactly what happened a few days ago to La Rioja newspaper. The center of attention continued in Lérida, but mainly in Logroño (La Rioja).

ÑH Awards, 11th Edition

On Friday evening, the organizer of the ÑH Awards —The best of journalistic design from Spain and Portugal—  announced the winners of the eleventh edition. This entry shows the most relevant ones. Best front-page of the year at the newspaper category: Publico

Best front-page of the year at the magazine category: ES (La Vanguardia).

Best designed large newspaper: Publico. Finalist: El Correo.

Best designed medium-sized newspaper: Diario de Noticias. Finalist: Ara.

Best designed small newspaper: El Decano Deportivo. Finalist: Jornal de Leiria.

Best designed magazine: Esquire. Finalist: Magazine (El Mundo).

Newspaper inside pages. Two golds for Las Provincias.

Informative coverages at newspapers. Gold for El Diario Vasco for "temporal" ("Rough weather") and gold for Las Provincias for "Cierre de Canal 9" ("Channel 9´s closing down"). We show some front-pages.

Photography. Breaking-news at newspapers. Gold for El Diario Montañés for "Salimos del infierno" ("We leave hell") and gold for El Mundo for "Relevo en la Monarquía" ("Monarchy´s replacement", by Carlos García Pozo).

Similarities and differences

The more articles we read about a story, the more necessary it is to offer an analysis, context. We need to think about the reader, maybe by putting aside the avalanche of statements and betting for helping people to think. We´ve seen a good example in El Diario Vasco in relation to the yes-no Catalonian referendum.

Nothing bothers

The information we´re showing today has been well-thought-out. It´s from La Vanguardia. Facts are clearly expressed with simple graphics, pictures complement the idea... It all joins together as a excellent unit.

Mission accomplished

When the reader stops in a particular page, great success. It means "something" has been found. Sometimes it´s a title, other times it´s a picture. More and more, it´s due to a well thought-out, attractive put into page of good information. We´ve saved a few interesting ones. They are from El Mundo, Las Provincias, El Periódico and La Vanguardia.
