Today´s example is simple, but we like it for a few reasons. The information given is very good, but what we really want to highlight is the use of infographics in this “small” newspaper, El Progreso.

Yarinaa in the first person
We are going to show a few examples of “the day after” coverage. The first one is a continuous coverage given by El Correo and approaches Fagor factory´s closing down. We haven´t paid attention to people´s statements and stories. Today we want to show other ways to inform about the topic:
Two stories caught or attention in El Periódico. The first one is related to one of the most-covered topics these days: espionage. The second one is the story of a survivor.
We also think this day-after coverage of a traffic accident, from Diario de Navarra, was very interesting too:

Happy birthdays
We put under this heading two stories. The first one, from Las Provincias, tells us about an institution´s 70th anniversary; the second one, from El Correo, informs us about five “happy birthdays” in a geriatric residence.
And now that we are talking about hundred-year-olds, we really liked this report we saw in Faro de Vigo:

Leisure yes, business…
Outstanding report: Hoy, with facts, shows how many distinguished, wealthy Spaniards have a ranch in the region of Extremadura but do their business outside.
The same day, we saw an excellent report in the newspaper:

Appointment with the President
Just like yesterday, today we offer another well-designed, excellent idea. El Periódico covered a meeting between the President of Europe´s Parliament and ten young people.

Duel between red and white teams
We loved this double-page from El Correo when we saw it. It is an outstanding way of putting an excellent idea onto a page. Both teams´ careers ever since they played the Europa League´s final match in Bucharest.
It is always interesting to find well-planned, though-out, elaborate pages. Like this interview we have read in Diario de Navarra:
Another example of well-developed information, from La Verdad´s Sports section:

Página 2
“There are many newspapers that attempt to launch the day´s stories with an opinion section, one that is more or less fixed, that puts the reader in front of everything he will find inside. Quite frequently routine and standard stories turn readers off. In Heraldo we considered a “Página 2” (second page) with an informative and opinion-based tone which encompasses the newspaper´s most representative stories from the Heraldo staff´s perspective. Actually, we are talking about the most-commented topics when deciding the day´s stories, and that are narrated in an original way without always using the same tools.”
"The use of monochrome, as well, emphasizes the importance of opinion over other graphic elements but always transmitting a desire to innovate and surprise. It becomes a small challenge that is overcome in the morning planning session (it is also the object of change depending on the flow of news), although always sustained by what we consider to be valid concentrating the most significant stories of the day. A short, but measured, look at a reality that has a transversal nature (local, sports, national, etc.). It is a product of journalism that, we believe, anchors the reader and also adds value to the newspaper from the start."
This is what Mikel Iturbe, the newspaper´s director, has told us about your interesting “Página 2”. Lets look at some pages:
